My Dearest Nemesis adds a layer of hidden identities to the classic haters-to-lovers trope. It is about a company director and an analogue dogmatic employee that are neither of which are prepared to change their opinion on something, and neither of which like to lose. When their contentious, headstrong personalities collide, a spark of romance starts to simmer. It can be a change of heart, as we have seen in the recent developments of the plot, between the two.
In My Dearest Nemesis episodes 5 and 6, which aired on March 3 and 4, Baek Su Jeong (Moon Ga Young) recalls her bittersweet first love with Ban Ju Yeon (Choi Hyun Wook), whom she didn’t know was the Black Dragon. To comfort her, he shared that he had a similar experience. Their friends, Seo Ha Jin (Im Se Mi) and Kim Sim Won (Kwak Si Young), will do whatever is necessary to keep the two from remembering their true identities, including wanting nothing more than to keep each other away.
They are drunkenly frustrated after not being seen as eligible bachelors because of their young age. The next day, she continues to confront him about what he did to her, but he cannot tell her because she does not recall any of it. Thinking he is a playboy, she accepts Seo Ha Jin through a blind date. He’s the mature type she prefers, but all the same, both Baek Su Jeong and Ban Ju Yeon’s date schedules don’t seem as worthwhile as October 2023.
He does his best to act like a man she can depend on but will never be. Then a flash of their romantic kiss comes to him, and he rushes to her to discuss it. Meanwhile, Kim Sim Won continues stopping by Seo Ha Jin, using their mission to keep their friends apart as an excuse. Upon realizing his true intentions, she tells him that all she could do was sleep with him one last time because she had no interest in getting feelings involved. Her second, even frostier rejection, shatters him into smithereens.
