Episode 4 Recap
In episode 4 of the The Potato Lab, Mi-kyung is upset and can hardly bring herself to believe that Baek-ho has actually fired her. He explains that he’s keeping only the essential staff at the lab and, regrettably, you are not required in that department. Mi-kyung attempts to explain herself and fight for her position on the team, but Baek-ho is unyielding in his decision. He somewhat eases the pain by telling her she can stay until Mr. Kwon’s training time is done because she is still responsible for onboarding him.
However, there is some drama emerging between Ong-ju and Hwan-kyong. It begins when she comes in to find him taking a bath. She says she has seen everything, and then realizes she has said too much and runs out, red with shame. Despite the tension, it’s obvious Hwan-kyong has feelings for her. Later that day when Ong-ju is down at the beach a trio of surfers start causing trouble. At first, he comes up with a plan to ‘save’ her and acts rather clumsy and stupid by doing it in front of everybody and acting as if they are a couple with trust issues.
Nevertheless, Ong-ju and Hwan-kyung’s drama is forgotten when people start to worry about Mi-kyung’s absence and her mental condition.
Mi-kyung goes to Gilmoon Temple to see her father, and she finds out that he is a monk who had left his family for this vocation several years ago. They eat together, but Mi-kyung does not return home until very late at night. Baek-ho, who has been waiting for her, is concerned about her. He is glad that she is okay and even comments on it when she walks through the door. The atmosphere returns to work, and everyone is in high spirits, complimenting Baek-ho for being such a wonderful and thoughtful chief. Mi-kyung, listening to all of this, has had enough. She attempts to seduce Baek-ho and make him change his mind about firing her, using every trick in the book. Of course, Baek-ho is stubborn and stubborn, and he has no intention of changing his mind.
Meanwhile, CEO Yoon is still upset with Ki-se for being too ‘clingy’ after his divorce. It really grates on his skin, especially when he can’t get basic information about a guest, for example, when they are using their card at a hotel. It’s a coincidence that Mi-kyung is also at the same hotel for an interview. She is seated right behind Ki-se in a booth and he can’t help but listen in. He finally gets up and offers her a way out – as Baek-ho is his subordinate, he can tell Baek-ho to screw off and let her come back. But Mi-kyung doesn’t want to do this and explicitly declines his help.
A new character, Yoon Hee-jin, is introduced Baek-ho’s best friend, who is trying to avoid Ki-se. She knows that Baek-ho is just being civil with him for the sake of their marriage and is telling him to be on her side while they eat. When Mi-kyung gets fired, the office changes. Baek-ho’s car is blocked in, and the workers discuss him in a group chat—only they send it to the wrong chat, and Baek-ho is in it. Mi-kyung tries to cover it up by removing the messages from his phone, but they are still there on his desktop. She rushes to clear them from his computer, but Baek-ho waves it off, not even considering to scold her for it. At night, Mi-kyung is awakened by the thunder and goes to check on the greenhouses, and Baek-ho follows her out into the storm. They end the episode sitting in silence.
The Episode 4 Review

Not quite as funny as last week’s episode, The Potato Lab is still a decent mix of drama, comedy, and romance. Ong-ju and Hwan-kyung’s relationship is further expanded in this episode, and there is no denying the romantic interest between them. Baek-ho and Mi-kyung’s story continues as Baek-ho deals with the consequences of dismissing Mi-kyung.
The beginnings of Ki-se’s story with his wife are slowly being shown, but for the moment there is little to go on.
Despite that, the two main leads have great chemistry, and there is a lot of potential for what will happen in the next episode.
